The 13-year-old was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on Saturday.
The young person cannot be named for legal reasons.
Yesterday applications by police prosecutors for interim orders for a forensic procedure came before Dubbo Children's Court.
The legal representative for the girl was not opposed to the application being adjourned for two to three weeks.
But the police prosecutor urged the court to consider the applications as soon as possible, saying two to three weeks was long enough to allow a person to make changes such as a change of hairstyle.
Magistrate Alexander Mijovich adjourned the matters until Friday, January 30, when the applications for orders for forensic procedures would be determined.
Bail was not applied for and was formally refused.
The accused was not required to appear via audiovisual link from her place of remand yesterday.
The teenager is also before the court on unrelated charges of taking and driving a conveyance without consent of the owner and never licensed person drive vehicle on the road.
The wounding with intent charge was laid hours after a 66-year-old taxi driver was allegedly stabbed in the neck by the teen, a passenger in the cab.
The driver was treated at Dubbo Hospital.
Despite sustaining a five-centimetre wound to his throat, police reported at the weekend they had been told the injury was not life threatening.
