Today we look at little closer to home at the amazing men and women who have received local awards.
The one thing that really ties each and everyone on of these award winners together is community - more importantly their service to make our community a better one.
Each one of our award winners this year has embraced their local community and have worked towards making it a better place for our residents to live in.
Citizen of the Year Phil Priest works with a variety of local organisations, has worked with our youth as a teacher and said himself that 'he loves to be involved with the community because he "selfishly" loves to help people.'
Young Citizen of the Year Grace Parker is also heavily involved in the community and has already done some amazing things in her life, including but not limited to, facing the Kokoda Track.
On the sporting fields our Sportsperson of the Year Tim Cox has contributed to a game he loves for almost 30 years, while our Young Sportsperson of the Year Emma Corcoran is flying the Aussie Flag all the way over in Europe this year.
With over 500 people turning out for the breakfast celebrations in Victoria Park it was great to see our community coming together.
That's what Australia Day is all about. Relaxing and enjoying time with our mates.
We sure hope you had a great day.
