Five-year-old Marc Presnell starts kindergarten next week with his six-year-old cousin, Heath Hanson and five other childhood friends.
Marc and his mother Natasha Ireland attended a mother's group when the children were all about six weeks old and Ms Ireland said the families have been close ever since.
"We always catch up for Christmas and they were all born around January/ February, so January and February is birthday season," she said.
Ms Ireland said she hopes all of the parents and children can help each other through.
"They're all our first children, so we're all going through the rights of passage together," she said.
"They're the little fish in a big pond, but at least they have each other.
"It'll be interesting to see whether they gel together or make their own friends."
Ella Claire was one of the children in the mother's group who was born on the same day as Marc, they met at the mother's meeting and next week they will start school in the same class.
Five-year-old Ella said she is "very excited" to go to school.
"I hope there will be lots of toys to play with and I can play outside on the play equipment," she said.
She also said she is looking forward to "learning writing and reading".
Ms Ireland said on the orientation Marc's teacher said to her "I hope he doesn't lose his enthusiasm".
But the parents have agreed a lack of enthusiasm will not be an issue for the children.
"The teachers are definitely going to earn their money," Ms Ireland said.
