Currently known for her work as anchor of The Perrett Report on SKY NEWS Business and a regular panelist on Paul Murray LIVE, Janine said Dubbo was the top of her list of preferences when she was asked to be an ambassador.
With her debut as an ambassador fast approaching, Janine said she was in love with the country "can-do" attitude.
"Australia is one of the most unified countries and although there's a strong city-country divide, I think we've all stuck strong together," she said.
Along with the Australia Day festivities, Janine said she was booking some time in to visit Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
Being a Melbourne girl, Janine said she had not seen as much of NSW as she would like to.
"I'm actually just taken with the idea of the sausage sizzle to be honest," she said.
"Australia Day has such a wonderful community vibe and I can't wait to see how Dubbo celebrates."
She said she thought it was marvelous how many citizens were acknowledged in the community.
Janine said she had found the older a person gets, the more they come to appreciate the vibe more than the party atmosphere.
"We don't need fireworks or anything to have a good time."
Janine began her journalism career at the Melbourne bureau of The Australian newspaper in 1979, before relocating to the Sydney office to work on the business desk in 1983.
"I liked talking to people and expressing my opinion so it seemed the logical career move," she said.
In 1984 she was appointed paper's London correspondent before moving to New York to take on the role of US correspondent from 1985 to 1990.
During her time in the US she covered major news stories including presidential elections, the space shuttle disaster, armed conflicts in Haiti, Panama and Chile and the 1987 Wall Street crash.
When she returned to Australia, Janine accepted the role of deputy business editor at the Sydney Morning Herald.
In 1990 Janine joined the Nine Network's Business Sunday program and also reported for the networks Sunday program.
She said as much as she loved writing, she realised she had to jump the fence once she saw how important television reporting was.
Four years later she founded The Small Business Show, which she was involved with for its nine year run.
Janine has also worked as a guest presenter on ABC Radio and as a columnist for News Limited and the Sydney Morning Herald, before joining SKY NEWS in 2010.
