Being from the Land Down Under often leaves us subject to mockery from our neighbouring countries, but now it's time to don those singlets, shorts and thongs to embrace our day of days.
The fun kicks off at 7.30am at Victoria Park with a free barbecue breakfast and entertainment by the Dubbo District Concert Band.
The official ceremony starts at 8.30am with Dubbo's Australia Day ambassador, Janine Perrett, anchor of The Perrett Report on SKY NEWS Business and a regular panelist on Paul Murray LIVE, delivering an address to residents.
Mayor of Dubbo Mathew Dickerson will give a welcome address and announce the City's Australia Day Award winners, including Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year, Young Sportsperson of the Year and Services to Sports Award.Cr Dickerson will also lead a naturalisation ceremony for 31 people from across 12 nations who will officially become Australian residents.
He said he was encouraging Dubbo residents to take full advantage of the morning's activities.
"Australia Day is a day when the community unites in a truly Australian way, sharing our values of democracy, our love of the outdoors and the value of friendship and citizenship.
"One of the great traditions of Dubbo's Australia Day celebrations is the welcoming of new citizens who want to be part of that lifestyle," Cr Dickerson said.
After the fun at Victoria Park, the Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre will be open for families to relax and enjoy a day at the pool.
"Between 10am and 11am, entry to the Dubbo Aquatic Leisure Centre will be by gold coin donation," Cr Dickerson said.
The day doesn't stop after that with shrimps on the barbie expected to be sizzling in the Dubbo air from lunchtime on wards.
Dubbo City Bowling Club will be celebrating Australia Day from 12pm with a free jumping castle, free face painting, True Blue Aussie music, gum boot tossing and thong throwing competitions, trike rides and most importantly barefoot bowls.
Prizes will be up for grabs for the best Aussie dressed attendees.
The iconic band Legless Pedestrians will be rocking it out from 3pm.
Residents should also pop in to local waterholes, the Garden Hotel, the Pastoral Hotel, the Macquarie Inn and the Commercial Hotel for the over-18 festivities.
