Candidates for the State seat of Dubbo have weighed in on the police pursuit policy following a fatal pursuit in Sydney's West.

Both candidates believe the current police pursuits policy is strict and robust and have both agreed the incident was a tragic event.
"Police pursuits policy is a really tough area and there have been many reviews and studies across Australia looking at it over the years. It's really a balancing act between apprehension of suspected criminals and the safety of the public."
- Country Labor Candidate Stephen Lawrence.

Royal Commission into Institutional Responses To Child Sex Acts: A Hunter group wants an investigation into the deaths of more than 30 former Catholic high school students by suicide, drug overdoses or possible suicide, because of links to known or alleged child sex offenders. A list with more than 30 names – all male – of boys, teenagers and men has been compiled for a submission to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, with the youngest aged just 13 when he took his life in his bedroom, and the most recent suicide early last year.
GP Fee: Australian patients will be hit by a new $20 fee for seeing their GP when changes to Medicare, introduced by the Abbott government to save billions of dollars, begin to take effect from next week. We want to know what you think:
Lock Out Laws: The Baird government will rethink lockout laws that have helped drive down assaults at Sydney nightspots, prompting suggestions it has buckled to pressure from the powerful alcohol lobby. But pubs and clubs say they have suffered a severe downturn in trade and the stringent laws should be reassessed before more damage is done
Mysterious Death at Canberra Nursing Home: A mysterious death at a Canberra nursing home two years ago is under renewed police scrutiny, as investigators try to determine how suspiciously high levels of alcohol came to be in a non-drinker's system.
Child dies in Ipswitch: A 15-month-old boy hit by a car in an Ipswich driveway has died. The boy suffered head injuries when the car struck him shortly before 1.20pm Monday. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said another person, believed to be the driver of the car, had been taken to Ipswich Hospital to be treated for shock.
26 Acquitted for Debauchery: An Egyptian court has acquitted 26 men on charges of "debauchery" – a term commonly used there as code for homosexual acts – but only after they had endured public humiliation, weeks in jail and, in at least three cases, apparent sexual assault while in custody. The acquittals were welcomed by the men's supporters, but the case was held up as an example of an increasingly hostile climate toward gay people under Egypt's authoritarian government. Although homosexuality is not technically illegal, dozens of people have been prosecuted in recent months for alleged acts such as public lewdness or habitual indecency that are generally invoked when gays are targeted.
US Military Twitter Hacked: The twitter site of the military's US Central Command was taken over Monday by hackers claiming to be working on behalf of the Islamic State militants. American and coalition fighters are launching airstrikes against IS in Iraq and Syria. The site was filled with threats that said "American soldiers, we are coming, watch your back."
