Long time supporters of the annual Parkes Elvis Festival street parade claim Saturday’s crowd was the biggest yet. And that is some claim, with estimates of more than 5000 attending.
Elvis artist, John Collins has been coming to Parkes for the festival for a decade - and has always participated in the parade, no doubt the highlight of the program.
“That was the biggest crowd I have ever seen,” he said.
“People were lined up all the way down the main street - and they were more that four or five deep.
“It was fantastic. I’d love for them to have made a little more noise for those in the parade, but the enjoyment they had was obvious.”
The parade again featured a huge number of Elvises, floats and vehicles.
There were also many children dressed in costume who took part, as well as many visitors.
A surprise participant was state MP, Andrew Gee who actually sang live all the way down the parade route.
