But Dubbo RSL Health Club assistant manager Trent Croll believes 2015 will successful year for Dubbo residents.
"I think a lot of people will stick to their resolutions this year," he said.
"There's always so much going on in Dubbo and we're lucky we have people in the community who want to be a part of it."
Mr Croll said outdoor events such as the Dye Hard Fun Run, Dubbo Stampede and the Tough Mudder run were big factors behind many people's new years resolution to improve their fitness.
He said membership numbers at the Health Club had been rising well before Christmas.
"It's been hectic."
Mr Croll said the rush to get fit was not just from aspiring athletes.
"There's also been a spark of interest from current members looking to change their routines and explore new programs.
Common resolutions throughout the Health Club were centered around looking and feeling good.
"Everyone want's that summer body," Mr Croll said.
"I've found a lot of people have a glow when they're on holidays."
"They're feeling better about themselves and want to make a change,' he said.
Mr Croll said his top tip for residents wanting to shape up for 2015 would be to take away the scales and look at how their clothes are fitting.
"The best chance for success is to have someone by your side, whether it's a trainer or a friend."
Mr Croll sent his best wishes from the Dubbo RSL Health Club for everyone in the community to have a fantastic 2015.
