Long-time solicitor Kevin Hockey was making submissions when he addressed the magistrate as "your worship", before correcting it to "your honour".
"Your worship" was deemed antiquated and dumped in a decision by the chief magistrate in 2004.
It was replaced by "your honour", which was already in use for the state's judges.
Magistrate Michael Price told the solicitor he was showing his age.
Later he showed Mr Hockey some leniency.
"I should have said you were showing your experience," Mr Price said.
