The twins tasted W-League success on Sunday when their Canberra United side scored an upset 3-1 win over Perth Glory.
The grand final glory came just days after the pair celebrated their 23rd birthday and Ashleigh was named as United's player of the year.
She went on to score two goals on Sunday, before being named player of the match.
The win was United's second in the seven-year history of the W-League, and according to Begg it was a victory the pair will savour more than their previous win in the 2011/12 season.
"When we won the competition a couple of years back, we were younger and it came a bit easier than this one. We had to work really hard for this and I don't think we'll take anything for granted now," Begg said.
"That hard run into the finals and then into the grand final probably played into our favour a bit. We had been playing tough games for a few weeks, where Perth had things a bit easier.
"Personally for me, I was more of a bit player in our past couple of grand finals, but this time being captain and having that extra work and responsibility, means I know how much effort goes into winning.
"We were massive underdogs but I think that really helped us focus on what we had to do, and thankfully we went out and did it.
"And Ash scored the two goals that won the game for us, so I'm sure that is something she will savour out of this one as well."
The team returned to Canberra in the early hours of yesterday morning, and while sleep was something the girls were short on, they celebrated the title with a 'Mad Monday'-style event.
But it's back to reality today, with life for a W-League champion not quite as cosy as it would be for a male counterpart.
"We have to work tomorrow (Tuesday) and then we'll be on the road home to Dubbo to spend Christmas with our family," Begg said.
"But we'll enjoy the celebrations and really enjoy what we have been able to achieve."
In her acceptance speech at the official presentation, Begg thanked her family in Dubbo and said that was a deliberate ploy on her behalf.
"I think it's really important to acknowledge where you started, and for us that was Dubbo," she said.
"Because the grand final was played over in Perth our family wasn't able to make it to watch but we knew they were watching back at home with a few people around at their house.
"I think dad might have scared one of the little kids who was at the house when he was jumping up and screaming. He got pretty excited about it all but we're a pretty close family so I wouldn't have expected anything else."
