Skinner has polled 11 votes through the first half of the 2014-15 season, with his lead cut by just one vote after the most recent round of matches were completed on Saturday.
Tigers opener Wayne Dunlop moved into outright second in the voting, after scoring two votes courtesy of his century in a losing cause on Saturday, with Adam Wells' day-one ton, backed up by three wickets on day two, enough to ensure the Souths all-rounder polled maximum votes.
Reigning medallist, Macquarie's Jason Green, has overcome a slow start to the season, with his match-winning century on day one against CYMS earning him three votes and pushing him into a four-way tie for third place while Dan Medway's four-wicket haul on Saturday earned him two votes.
Wes Giddings' efforts with bat and ball made him a lock for three votes in RSL-Colts' narrow win over Rugby, with the all-rounder backing up a six-wicket haul on day one with a match-winning unbeaten 52 on Saturday.
Rugby's left-arm quick Ben Taylor, who missed the early part of the season due to surgery, polled two votes and has quickly moved up to equal third with Green, Steve Skinner and his Rugby teammate Jordan Moran.
After the Christmas break polling will not be revealed, with the ultimate winner of the award to be announced at the Dubbo and District Cricket Association presentation dinner at the end of the season
