CHRISTMAS cheer will come to the less fortunate this Monday, thanks to the annual St Vincent de Paul and St Brigid's Parish Christmas Hamper Drive.

From about 7:30am St Brigid's parishioners and students will participate in the 25 year tradition of distributing the hampers.

Christmas Hamper Drive coordinators Carole O'Connor and Dan Sullivan said this is a fantastic opportunity for the community to give back.

"People show thanks for that they have," Mr Sullivan said.

"It gets people ready for Christmas- it's a lovely part of Christmas," Ms O'Connor said.

More than 300 hampers have been assembled by various groups in Dubbo.

Teachers and students from St John's College, St Mary's, St John's, St Laurence's and St Pius X Primary Schools worked to provide 166 small and large hampers.

Dubbo City Council and Raine and Horne contributed 25 hampers.

And this weekend parishioners from St Brigid's community will contribute over 120 small and large hampers.

The hampers consist of the chips, Christmas pudding and cake, custard, biscuits and tinned food.

Ms O'Connor said the small hampers cost an estimated $50 and the big hampers cost an estimated $75.

Mr Sullivan said anyone can help out at the distribution on Monday- he thanks all who have been involved in the Christmas Hamper Drive.

"Big thank to all who have contributed to bringing the spirit of Christmas to many families in our Dubbo community," he said.

"Also many thanks to people who have made cash donations to our Christmas appeal."
