Dubbo Local Court heard the 21-year-old intended the spend the night at the picnic races on September 6.
In the early hours of the following morning he risked a 500 metre drive to the house of his girlfriend's cousin.
He was stopped for a random breath test and found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.126.
Korff pleaded guilty to mid-range drink-driving when he was brought before Magistrate Andrew Eckhold.
"He is remorseful and acknowledges the offence was serious," a solicitor said.
"He is a hard working man and the offending was out of character.
"He has one month left to complete an apprenticeship and was suspended from driving at the time of the offence.
"He is well aware the maximum penalty is jail."
Magistrate Eckhold said Korff had no criminal offences.
"You have pleaded guilty and completed traffic offender education.
"The (blood alcohol) reading causes concern. You were unsteady on your feet and your speech was slurred. You must be convicted."
