In one of the most thrilling finishes to a match this season Macquarie defeated CYMS Cougars by one wicket in the Kelly Cup on Saturday, smashing 74 runs in the final 10 overs to claim victory.
In just his second match this season Ben Walker showed his value to the Blues as he made 53 at the top of the order while tailenders Chad O'Brien (29) and Nathan Shurmer (28 not out) hit out late to pass CYMS' competitive total of 7-228 in the final over.
Young gun Sam Duffy did his best to bowl the Cougars to victory as he claimed five wickets but it wasn't enough as CYMS just fell short.
Earlier in the day, father and son duo Craig and Thomas Graham combined for a 109-run partnership with Craig making 54 and Thomas finishing unbeaten on 42.
They had helped the Cougars recover from 6-130 at the 30 over mark and with the total going well past 200 and Macquarie below them on the table the men in green would have been confident heading out to bowl.
Walker and Jack Baker (16) put on 78 for the opening stand, before Blake Jones (33) chimed in.
CYMS then hit back as Duffy worked his way through the middle order.
Heading into the final 10 overs the ball was still in the Cougars' court but some big hitting late on ensured Macquarie recorded their third win of the season.

An all-round contribution with the ball and an unbeaten half century from Lyndon Whitney was the catalyst for RSL Colts on Saturday as they defeated South Dubbo by nine wickets at Bob Dowling 2.
Wayne Cole and Ben Bruce took three wickets each while Brendan Jayasuriya claimed two as Souths were all out for 128, with Alex Burke (36) the only batsman to make a meaningful contribution.
If Souths were to be any chance they needed early wickets but Whitney and Jayasuriya (23) added 48 before Cole then joined Whitney and together the pair reached the target with minimal fuss.
Whitney finished 65 not out while Cole was unbeaten on 33 in a win which propels last season's runners-up to the top of the ladder.

Newtown Black cruised to a straightforward win over RSL Colts Youth Development (YD) at John McGrath 2, rolling the youngsters for 69 before passing the total for the loss of just four wickets.
Andrew Gardiner's four wickets for Newtown Black helped them roll Colts YD with Glenn Armstrong incredibly making 41 of his side's 69 runs.
Michael Parish did all he could to help his side defend the small total, picking up two wickets in the first over to have Newtown Black 2-0 before finishing the match with 4-15 from six overs.
Graeme Allen guided his side to victory, making 37 not out as Newtown Black recorded win number three for the season.
