Warner brought up his hundred on an emotional day at the Adelaide Oval at just under a run a ball, and immediately saluted the heavens in honour of his fallen mate, Phillip Hughes.
Warner's 10th Test century adds to his 13 half-centuries.
Only Australian legends Donald Bradman, Neil Harvey and Arthur Morris had 10 or more centuries after 33 Tests.
Bradman recorded 18 centuries and seven half-centuries, Harvey12 centuries and 11 half-centuries and Morris 10 centuries and eight half-centuries.
Warner never looked like swaying from his objective of smashing the Indian bowling attack to all corners of the field. He found the boundary rope with seven of his first 15 balls faced on his way to a dominant 45-ball 50.
Upon reaching 63 not out, the score Phillip Hughes was on when he died last month, Warner took a moment to salute his friend. The Adelaide Oval erupted in a round of applause for Warner's milestone, but the celebration for his century was even more special.
Several players had scored nine centuries after their first 33 Tests. Michael Hussey, Matthew Hayden, Dean Jones and Greg Chappell all had nine centuries at the 33-Test mark.
