Has Ray Meagher been dipping into the Botox? Alf Stewart seems not to have aged in the past 20 years. That some things never change is the enduring quality of many a good soapie though, and in the case of Summer Bay, we have stalwarts such as Alf, Irene (Lynne McGranger) and Marilyn (Emily Symons) to make occasional viewers feel at home every time they tune in. Toned, tanned torsos are another constant, as well as a healthy dose of drama for the town's young and beautiful – and never more so than in a movie-length season finale such as this. Phoebe (Isabella Giovinazzo) is finally set to launch her record, but what will that scheming manager Neive (Jolene Anderson) have in store for her?

Julia Zemiro's Home Delivery, ABC, 8.30pm

Julia Zemiro gets all the good gigs, doesn't she? From RocKwiz to Eurovision to Home Delivery, where she gets to visit comedians in their home towns and chew the fat about what life was like for them growing up. Stephen Curry is tonight's guest, taking us to his childhood home in Melbourne's affluent Deepdene. It's a pleasant enough trip down memory lane and provides a few insights on Curry's religious upbringing and lifelong larrikinism, but I feel this series would benefit from the presence of significant characters in our protagonists' lives, commenting on what they were like way back when. Still, it's been a simple but engaging concept, well executed, and one that could be effectively applied to interesting folk in other areas, such as musos, perhaps. I know of someone who'd make a good host.

Black Comedy, ABC, 9.30pm

This sketch comedy, entirely written by indigenous Australians and featuring a mostly Aboriginal cast, was a long time coming, but it's been fabulous to enjoy some of the best local sketch comedy we've seen in years, and the first indigenous version to air since 1973. That's not to say it's brilliant – well, some sketches are, while others fail to fire – but it's been a promising first series. Tonight's finale, though, isn't a high point. The standout is a flashback to a 1996 production meeting of The Great Outdoors, where Ernie Dingo (Bjorn Stewart) takes issue with where he is frequently sent as a presenter. There's a dearth of the guest stars that lent sparkle to earlier episodes, but Black Comedy merits a second series.

Some Girls, Comedy, 8.30pm

There really ought to be more shows like this earthy, ebullient and big-hearted comedy about four British high-school gal pals. As it returns for a third short season tonight it briefly looks as though it might have suddenly gone too dumb and broad. But fear not – while the silliness is still there, so is the intelligence, the originality, and the endearing adolescent vulnerability. Tonight our heroines, nice girl Viva (Adelayo Adedayo), tomboy Holli (Natasha Jonas), dimwit Amber (Alice Felgate) and the sarcastic Saz (Mandeep Dhillon) all have different things going on – and none of them devotes much thought to any of it. But they  stick together and end up discussing orgasms: who's had them and who hasn't, when, how and why not.

A Royal Affair (2012), SBS One, midnight

What does an intelligent and spirited woman do when she discovers that her arranged husband not only has no interest in her and demeans her, but is also insane? Probably, she would look for emotional and physical solace in the company of another. But when you are the Queen of Denmark and your desired companion is the King's physician, you are taking a risky path.

The affair in 1769 between 17-year-old Queen Caroline Mathilde (sister of Britain's King George III) and 30-year-old Johann Friedrich Struensee represented a traumatic moment in Danish history, even if in the aftermath the nation set sail on a course of enlightenment. In his film account, co-writer-director Nikolaj Arcel creates a colourful and lush romantic adventure, with Denmark's great star, Mads Mikkelsen, as Johann, and Alicia Vikander (Kitty in Joe Wright's Anna Karenina) as Caroline. Unfortunately, they are both a bit old for their roles, making this no longer the story of a naive girl and a young man, but of wilfully irresponsible adults. Worse, Vikander plays Caroline as a pouty twentysomething who has left a cool nightclub and wandered into a period movie by mistake.

There is a trend these days to make characters from past centuries look and act as if they were born yesterday, but why? All it does is make the drama look faked and unconvincing, a lack of verisimilitude compounded by the film having been all too obviously shot in the Czech Republic. Yet, with its ever-tightening sense of doom,  his tortured love story could still have developed into something deeply compelling and even heart-wrenching. And, to be fair, that's what most critics – and some viewers – think it does become.

Elles (2011), World Movies (pay-TV), 10.25pm

Fascinating exploration of female sexuality by Polish-born director Malgoska Szumowska, about an Elle journalist (Juliette Binoche) who investigates two university students (Anais Demoustier and Joanna Kulig) paying their way via prostitution.
