The 53-year-old was brought before Magistrate Andrew Eckhold on multiple charges of stalking and intimidating and using a carriage service to menace, harass and offend.

The woman was said to have been involved in a systematic and sustained period of stalking from November 2013 to May 2014.

The police prosecution consented to mental health documents being tendered to the court and agreed a mental illness existed.

Magistrate Eckhold said he could deal with the matter because it was by consent.

The court was told the woman was seeing a psychiatrist, consulting with a general practitioner and undergoing counselling.

The charges were dismissed under the Mental Health (Forensic Provisions) Act.

The woman was ordered to follow a mental health plan for six months.

Apprehended violence orders were imposed preventing the woman from approaching, contacting, assaulting, molesting or harassing the victim.
