Dubbo City Council yesterday reported a new concept plan had been devised after it halted works at the intersection of Baird Drive, Lansdowne Drive and Bellbird Way.
The revision provided for a right-turn manoeuvre for northbound traffic from Baird Drive into Bellbird Way, unlike the previous plan.
Affected residents who attended a meeting with the council gave "unanimous support" for the revised concept plan, the council reported yesterday as it maintained the need for the roundabout as the estate grew in the future.
Residents and motorists earlier this month told the Daily Liberal of their concerns about the newly-built roundabout.
Rebecca Boehme had said the roundabout was "not safe".
"It's not in the middle of the road, it's impractical," she said.
Yesterday council technical support manager Mark Stacey reported on progress since works were temporarily halted in response to the concerns.
The main issue raised in consultations was the ability for motorists to turn right into Bellbird Way when heading north along Baird Drive, Mr Stacey said.
After consultation with residents council staff reviewed the history of the roundabout and further investigated layout options to come the issue, he said.
"A new layout plan was presented to a meeting of affected residents which provides for a right-turn manoeuvre for northbound traffic from Baird Drive into Bellbird Way," he said.
"Residents who participated in the meeting gave unanimous support for the revised concept plan."
Mr Stacey said the roundabout was needed to facilitate traffic movements at the intersection.
Baird Drive currently accommodated between 4000 to 5000 vehicle movements per day, he said.
"While Bellbird Way has 28 residences, "The Outlook" Delroy Park Estate has the potential to generate vehicle traffic from a minimum of 168 dwellings into and along Lansdowne Drive and then into Baird Drive," he said.
"As residential dwellings typically generate about 10 vehicle trips per day, this will significantly increase the daily vehicle movements along Baird Drive.
"With the off-centre alignment between Lansdowne Drive and Bellbird Way, it was considered by council that a roundabout is needed to adequately accommodate all the potential traffic at this intersection in the median to long term."
Further activity at the site was expected within weeks.
"Construction of the roundabout, at the developer's expense, is a condition of the development consent for the developers of the Delroy West ("The Outlook" Delroy Park Estate) once the estate had the potential to generate traffic into Lansdowne Drive, and then into Baird Drive," Mr Stacey said.
"Detailed design plans will now be completed and construction by the developer is expected to recommence in early December."
