Now in its eleventh year, the popular fundraising initiative has raised more than $102,000 for worthy causes.
The chocolate wheel season kicked off at Orana Mall on Saturday, and the wheel will spin every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
"We'll do that up until December the 20th, which will be our final day, and on that day we'll go through to 3pm," Rotary Club of Dubbo Macquarie spokesman Peter Kuhner said.
"We spin the wheel each time we sell all of the numbers on the wheel, it averages about nine spins a session. It generally doesn't take too long for them to sell out."
Mr Kuhner said the chocolate wheel had much to offer, even for those who did not have a sweet tooth.
"Orana Mall has supplied us with some shopping vouchers, we have gift cards and there are several Christmas hampers, each containing gourmet food and the like worth $50-60 each," he said.
"A lot of people like to wait around and watch the spins, but if they don't, that's OK because each ticket is numbered so you can go off and do your shopping and swing by later to see if you have won."
Mr Kuhner said the chocolate wheel was a little bit more interesting than the average raffle, with an element of "instant gratification" because contestants generally found out within 15 minutes or so whether the ticket they had bought was a winner.
Tickets were available for $1 per number or six for $5.
"We were thrilled when one guy bought $25 worth of tickets, it meant he had purchased a quarter of the wheel and he ended up winning," Mr Kuhner said.
"But for him it wasn't about winning, he wanted to help and it was very much an indication of his generosity."
Mr Kuhner said Rotarians who manned the chocolate wheel enjoyed meeting people and making them aware of Rotary's aims during the chocolate wheel period.
"It's a really enjoyable activity in the spirit of Christmas," he said.
