Colts, without Jon Kilby and Wes Giddings, made 6-267 from their 40 overs and then dismissed the Blues for 148.
Keenan and fellow opener Paul Hulthen set up the win, making 108 for the first wicket and Keenan it was close to a perfect win.
“It was good to finally win a toss and have a bat and we got off to a good start and set the platform,” he said. “We had wickets in the shed so in the last10 overs we could launch and play some big shots and then bowled well too so it was a pretty solid performance.”
Keenan made 68 and Hulthen continued his impressive start to the season by making 46 while there were also contributions from the returning Greg Buckley (39), Jason Ryan (33) and Chris Morton (24).
“I hit them really well actually,” Keenan said of his own innings.
“I’ve been pretty happy with how I’ve hit them the last couple of weeks and Paul has just been smashing them this season, he takes some of the pressure off and he’s really good to bat with.”
Jeremy Dickson showed his worth to the Macquarie first grade side by taking 3-48 while Ed Haylock (2-33) was the only other multiple wicket-taker.
The Blues faced a stern challenge in the run chase without captain Keiran Brien and they were in more trouble when Tim Howarth picked up the big wickets of Jason Green (9) and Ed Haylock (34).
Haylock proved to be the top-scorer as the Blues were fell short of 150 with Howarth, Buckley and Nathan Jones all taking three wickets each.
“Tim Cox was really good as always,” Keenan said.
“He was on the spot and set it up but we’re still probably a bowler short with Jon (Kilby) still unavailable, we’re missing that other opening bowler but we’re hoping to have him back in the next few weeks.”
After two losses the 119-run win was a welcome return to form for the men in red and with improvement still in the batting lineup Keenan said his side will only get better.
“We were really happy with our top six when batting and we’ve still got Wes (Giddings) to come back so when we’ve got a full team we’ll be pretty good but we just haven’t been able to do that yet,” he said.
“We’re looking alright at the moment, we’ve got Greg (Buckley) back and he adds a lot so we’re going pretty well.”
