Athletics: Competition will begin at the new Barden Park Regional Athletics Centre tomorrow night, with Dubbo Athletics Club finally able to move back home. Work on the new facility has been completed, and an induction was held for club officials last night, paving the way for an end to competition nights down at the temporary facility at Bob Dowling Oval.
Rugby League: New Group 11 president Derrick Hoe believes his charter in the job will be to continue the good work done by the previous committee. Despite being in Queensland with family, Hoe assumed the role at last Sunday's annual general meeting after former president Ross McDermott stepped back to fill the secretary role vacated by the resignation of Bob Walsh.

Celebrity: Robin Williams was suffering from a form of dementia that his family believes was a "key factor" leading to his suicide earlier this year, according to a report. Court documents obtained by entertainment websiteTMZ show the comedian, who died on August 11 at the age of 63, was suffering from a form of dementia called Lewy body dementia when he died.
Celebrity: Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell announced her engagement to Red Bull Formula One team boss Christian Horner in the UK newspaper The Times,just as Cumberbatch did.
Celebrity: Egging his neighbour's house has cost Justin Bieber a pretty penny – $93,000, to be exact. In a Los Angeles court on Monday, Bieber's lawyer Shawn Holley told the judge the singer had also done enough to complete his probation by February next year.

7.58: This week has been a terrible week for Central West roads, with three major crashes claiming five lives in horrific accidents and four people trapped in a car yesterday.
Emergency Services have removed four people from a vehicle that rolled along the Minore Road, about seven kilometres outside of Dubbo around 11.30am yesterday.
A mother and daughter were killed when their Ford Laser collided with another vehicle at the Euchareena Road intersection of the Shades Creek Road near Molong, at 5pm on Tuesday.
In other incidents, a man and woman were killed when their vehicle performed a U-turn in front of a semi-trailer at Coonabarabran and a woman was killed in Canowindra on Sunday night when her car struck a power pole.

Crime: Newcastle aged care worker Renee Mitchell was cooking for her family when she was allegedly taken from her own kitchen and brutally attacked before her body was left in a park less than a kilometre from the family home.
Drug Syndicate: One of the three brothers who transformed Yellow Tail wines into one of the great Australian export success stories has been charged over his alleged involvement in a major drug syndicate operating out of Griffith.
Modelling: There is something cheeky going on at a Tasmanian nursing home. Residents, staff and volunteers at Presbyterian Care Tasmania Legana home have tried their hand at modelling, putting together a "nude" calendar.
Crime: Homicide detectives will help to investigate after a man and woman were found shot dead in a car on country road near the NSW/Victorian border on Wednesday.
Fire: The Conargo Pub licensee watched and wept as his business and residence fell in flames on Tuesday night, but he's vowed to rebuild. Anthony Surace closed the pub at 9pm and was driving to a friend's birthday party when he got the call that his business was on fire.
Politics: Gen Y bashing 'mad and dangerous' to Australian democracy as Australian youth are more likely to engage in politics via social media and online petitions. Henry Belot reports.

Crime: A woman charged with the murder of her three-year-old son will remain in custody until her next court appearance in February 2015. The matter involving the 40-year-old was heard briefly in Bathurst Local Court on Monday, before magistrate Michael Allen adjourned the matter until February 16. Bail was not applied for and was formally refused by Mr Allen.
Research: Have you been diagnosed with cancer in the past six years? Charles Sturt University PhD student Ruth Jones is looking for local residents aged 18-70 who have been diagnosed with the disease to participate in a research project. The aim of the project is to develop an understanding of the experiences local people have had relating to their diagnosis.
Real Estate: Lovers of fine architecture and history buffs will be given a rare opportunity to see inside one of the city’s most mysterious houses as the doors of Yallungah, at 62 Byng Street, Orange, open to the public in the lead-up to its auction on Saturday.
Crime: Marlina Kelly, 30, failed in Orange District Court on Wednesday to have her sentence for multiple counts of driving without a licence set aside so she could be released from jail. However, Kelly, through her legal aid solicitor Gerry Stapleton, managed to secure a two-month cut in her jail sentence taking into account time already spent in custody and in a rehabilitation unit prior to her sentencing in Orange Local Court on October 16.
Fire Warning: The NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) is urging landholders and farm workers to be cautious when working outside during the next couple of days as increased temperatures and strong winds prove hazardous for fires.

Child Custody Battles: Parents locked in child custody disputes will wait at least 13 months to have a hearing in a court system at Dubbo which is "choked" and "simply under-resourced", warns a legal practitioner. Orana Law Society president Andrew Boog yesterday called for a Federal Circuit Court judge to be based at Dubbo as a solution to waiting times for family law matters in the city, which he said had increased in the past six months.
Mayoral Vehicle: After more than 16,000 kilometres, Dubbo City Council's mayoral car, a Long Range Electric Vehicle (LREV) Holden Volt has barely needed refuelling, taking on less than 240 litres of fuel. Dubbo mayor Mathew Dickerson said the use of an electric vehicle was well suited to the current role of the mayor as the majority of his car travel consisted of short trips about Dubbo.
Dangerous roundabout for bikers: A Dubbo man is concerned about the safety of motorists and bike riders after he had an accident on the newly constructed roundabout on the corner of Bultje and Fitzroy streets. Trevor Youngman was riding his bike around the roundabout on Monday morning and hit a large collection of stones that had built up on the outside lane.
Black Sunday Bushfire Inquiry: Rural Fire Service officers in charge of combating a fire chose to try a risky back-burning operation during the 2013 "Black Sunday'" bushfire, despite being strongly advised not to, an inquest has heard. The Wambelong fire destroyed 53 homes and tens of thousands of animals in January, 2013, when it was sparked in the Warrumbungle National Park, near Coonabarabran.
Arts: The 2015 season at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre (DRTCC) is going to shake things up and new manager Linda Christof is giving the public a sneak peak this Sunday. Beginning at 1pm, Ms Christof said the afternoon would include images, footage and live performances from guest artists performing next year.
