RUGBY have continued their outstanding start to the Kelly Cup season, recording their fifth consecutive win with a four-wicket victory over CYMS.
Teenager Charlie Kempston has been scoring runs for fun this season across junior and senior cricket and he kept up that form at No. 1 Oval with his 60 the top score as the defending premiers chased down the Cougars' total of 117.
Despite losing 4-19 at one stage Rugby were always in control and reached the target in the 24th over.
It had earlier been a team effort with the ball from Rugby with Tom Worrall, Logan Watmore, John Hausia and Angus Brayshaw all taking two wickets each.

An 89-run partnership from Suman Kavooru and Jack Baker has led Macquarie to an impressive seven wicket win over RSL-Colts Youth Development (YD) at John McGrath 2.
Chasing Colts' total of 173, Baker was part of a 62 run opening stand before combining with Kavooru to put the Blues in a match winning position at 2-152.
Despite Baker (44) and Luke Carmen (8) both falling before they reached they target, Kavooru remained 57 not out as the Blues sealed a relatively comfortable win inside 32 overs.
Earlier in the day, Colts' total had been set up by a 67-run partnership between Glenn Armstrong (51) and Michael Coward (46) while Nathan Sharmer's 3-26 was the best for Macquarie.

Another half century from Newtown Gold's Craig Pettit was vital for his side on Saturday as the Tigers hung on the defeat South Dubbo by 25 runs.
Pettit scored 57 as Newtown Gold posted 164 and then Warwick Finlay took 4-8 to knock over the Hornets for 139 in reply.
John Byrne took three wickets for Souths but then no Hornets batsman could make the big score in the run chase with Matt Knudsen's 36 the top score.
Souths were well in the match when they reached 5-110 but Finlay's spell proved to be the match winner as he took his four wickets in 5.2 overs.

RSL-Colts proved far too strong for Newtown Gold on Saturday, recording a eight-wicket win at Lady Cutler South 3.
Batting first, Newtown Gold were bowled out for 136 with Brendan Jayasuriya and Ben Bruce taking three wickets each.
Colts then made little work of the run chase, reaching the target for the loss of just two wickets and inside 23 overs.
John Woodbridge starred for Colts, finishing on 67 not out.
