Chairman of the Dubbo Turf Club, Michael Edwards said he was looking forward to every aspect of the day.
"Everyone has worked hard to put on the best possible event we can. We've all been going 100 miles per hour."
Mr Edwards said he expected a crowd of more than 4600.
"The track looks spectacular," Mr Edwards said.
"Dubbo Derby Day has really grown in popularity over the years. I think because it also coincides with the big race carnival in Victoria, so it definitely fits the mood this time of year."
It will be a winning day for the city with more than $700,000 expected to be pumped into the local economy, thanks to more than $500,000 due to be generated in bets and more than 1500 visitors converging on Dubbo.
The first race will begin at 2pm, with a total of $50,000 in prizemoney on the event's six races.
The Myer Dubbo Fashions on the Field is a main highlight on the day, with $2000 set aside for the best dressed lady and gentlemen.
Dubbo Myer store manager, Christine Edwards said judges would be looking for the traditional black and white Derby Day theme.
"Judges will be looking for everything, they have to have the whole kit."
Ms Edwards said preparations have been a six-week process.
"This year's Myers tent is a cocktail theme. We want it to be a relaxed atmosphere and make it special for everyone," Ms Edwards said.
Big on Style sales assistant, Deborah Hare said it seemed everyone would be sticking with the traditional black and white this year.
"We have been selling a lot of black and white in the lead up to the event," Ms Hare said.
"Our biggest sellers have been dresses and fascinators."
Ms Hare said there had been a lot of interest this year and although a shower was predicted for the afternoon it should not stop people from having a great day out.
"Whatever will be will be," Ms Hare said.
