Premiership winning coach Phil Gould and larrikin ex-premiership winning hooker Royce Simmons were the two guest speakers at the charity dinner, which was attended by 250 people.
A huge list of memorabilia was donated for the occasion by former Panthers player and Gilgandra resident John Farragher, who was the driving force behind getting the auction up and running.
Gould, who is now the Panthers football director, got the night off to a positive start by donating $10,000 from the Penrith football club. He and Simmons then entertained the crowd with stories.
Penrith has elected to make the event their annual old boys weekend so there were plenty among the crowd.
"The ball-park figure raised was in the vicinity of $60,000, that included around $13,000 raised by the "Bearded Warriors" plus the $10,000 from the Penrith Football Club," event organiser Wendy Nelson said.
"The Penrith Old Boys decided to make Gilgandra the venue for their reunion because John Farraghers was our special guest on the night .
"They were extremely generous and dug deep into their pockets to contribute to the night."
Bidding on memorabilia was also strong. A signed photograph of Don Bradman was sold for $2000, only to be donated back and auctioned again to the second highest bidder.
Guests were also treated to a delicious meal at the Gilgandra Shire Hall.
"The fundraiser was a huge success because of the many willing volunteers from our very generous community who donated their time," Ms Nelson said.
