Claudia has been accepted into the Australian Ballet School’s interstate training program and, like any little girl who loves ballet, she hopes it will one day lead to becoming a member of the Australian Ballet.
Claudia started ballet at the age of three and, unlike many girls whose interest wanes after a couple of years, she just loves going to class as much as possible.
“I think my favourite part is doing port-de-bras (carriage of the arms),” she said.
Claudia’s mother Tracey said she understood the program meant a great deal of travel to Melbourne so her daughter could take part in the outreach program, designed to nurture talent from regional areas of Australia.
“She absolutely loves it, which is why we took her to the auditions in Sydney,” Mrs Horan said.
Claudia’s teacher Marie Cubbitt said the young dancer was a delight to teach.
“She is very receptive to learning new things and she just loves her dancing,” she said.
“She also has very good technique.”
Claudia recently competed in the City of Orange Eisteddfod.
“I did three solos and went in groups,” she said.
“I really love being on the stage.”
