Craig Mansour was at Macquarie Anglican Grammar School yesterday ahead of his taking up its top position in January.
Enthusiastically he spoke of his plans, one of which was how they can further engage the community.
But he also praised the school he was getting to know better during a visit this week, three months after his appointment.
“What’s gone before me has set the school on a really firm foundation,” he said.
“Mr Geoff Fouracre, the previous principal of the school, has done an outstanding job along with his team to set the school on a really strong foundation for us to grow from,” he said.
Mr Mansour is currently head of school at Shoalhaven Anglican School, which like Macquarie, is part of the Sydney Anglican Schools Corporation group.
He urged the community to “take the opportunities we put out there to come and have a look” at “the growing” Macquarie.
He said the coming Spring Fair was an excellent opportunity for people to come in and “look at the place, have a look around, see what we have to offer”.
And his is a family that’s not disappointed to say goodbye to their home near the beach in December.
“I don’t want this to get back to the coast, but my kids are not surfers, they’re not massive fans of the surf,” Mr Mansour said.
“We can’t wait to get out here, they love sport, and I’ve got a son and a daughter who both love dancing.
“The opportunity to engage for us as a family in a bit bigger community than the one we’re currently in is something we’re very excited about,” he said.
