Learning and development in the Orana team are among the key areas District Officer Bradley Stewart will help oversee.
His previous role with the RFS saw him stationed in the Lake George Zone where he specialised in fire mitigation and operations support.
Lifestyle was a huge factor behind District Officer Stewart's decision to take up the new role at Dubbo and bring his wife, Michelle (an allied health specialist), and three-year-old twin daughters with him.
"Every day for most of my working life there's been nothing under a half-hour commute and for the past six years it's been a one-hour commute," he said.
"I've pretty much been commuting between Canberra and Goulburn for 18 years."
District Officer Stewart had a long history of working in "helping" fields such as emergency services and healthcare.
Apart from spending 18 years as an RFS volunteer, he has trained as a paramedic and is a qualified youth worker.
He has also worked for ACT Ambulance Service and at Canberra Hospital.
