Ms McGrath passed through Dubbo on Thursday as part of the Ride for Ellie's Smile.
Eighteen-month-old Ellie Topliff has been diagnosed with Tay Sachs, a disease which includes a gradual loss of vision, deafness, seizures and gradual paralysis in advanced stages.
To fundraise for Ellie and her family, Ms McGrath organised a two-week charity ride from Finley to Noosa.
"When I first heard of Ellie's condition I was devastated and because she was my god-daughter, and the same age of my youngest son," she said.
"I just wanted to do something special to raise awareness of this horrible disease which is so rare that hardly anyone had heard of it.
"People are always in the news doing bike rides to raise money and community awareness for lots of other things like cancer and other diseases, I decided that I could do it too," she said.
As a personal trainer, Ms McGrath said she was confident in her high level of fitness.
She started training in February with a local cycling group, slowly increasing the number of kilometres she road every week.
Yesterday was Ms McGrath's fourth day of the journey.
"The response from our community along with all the towns I have visited along the way, has been awesome. I cannot thank everyone enough. This is what keeps me motivated.
"I receive regular photos of Ellie each day to give me something to focus on."
Ms McGrath said she was unsure of the amount she had raised so far, as it would not be calculated until she finished the ride on October 25 at Noosa.
"Our local community started fundraising by holding various fundraising functions as well as people just coming up and handing me donations over the past six months," Ms McGrath said.
"Lots of people are donating directly to the Brain Foundation, part of which will go to research and part which will go towards helping Ellie and her family with ongoing medical expenses."
Ms McGrath said knowing Ellie and her family would be there to meet her at Noosa was what kept her going.
