CYMS young gun Will Graham continued his impressive start to the season when he made 65 for the Cougars while his father Craig (45) and fellow youngster Tom Nelson (46) were also among the runs in the total of 217.
Despite the imposing score, Souths opener John Byrne set up the victory with a well-made 77 while Andrew McKittrick made a vital 57 not out to get his side home with just two overs to spare.
Byrne started the day well for his side as he picked up three wickets but the Graham pair and Nelson built a total the Cougars were confident of defending after recovering from 2/30.
Souths fell to 2/32 in reply but Byrne ensured they stayed in the hunt and McKittrick mixed patience with aggression to play a starring role in the two wickets win.
Mark Hawke and Luke Ensor took two wickets each for CYMS.

Defending premiers Rugby made it two wins from two starts with a dominant 142-run win over Macquarie at John McGrath 2.
Charlie Kempston (66), Craig Wood (62) and Mitchell Smith (60) all produced strong performances with the bat as the defending premiers posted a hugely impressive 2-223 from their 40 overs and then Rugby put in a team effort with the ball to roll the Blues for just 91.
Following on from their five-wicket win in round one, Rugby showed again they will be hard to beat this year with their top order showing ominous form.
Jack Baker was the only Macquarie batsman to make an impact, making 36 while for Rugby the wickets were shared, with Tom Worrell and Wood taking three each while Matt Neill picked up 2-16.

Garry Finlay's 72 runs set up the win for Newtown Gold on Saturday as they defeated Newtown Black in the club derby.
Warrick Finlay made 43 at the top of the order but Garry was the star for the Gold Tigers while number eight Jay Kelly (14) was the only other batsman to make double figures.
Peta Powyer was impressive with the ball, finishing with 4-30.
In reply, Tigers Black struggled early as they slumped to 5-32 and they couldn't recover from there, despite the best efforts of Dave Brown (20) and Brett Wrigley (19).
Jackson Dawe, Jarrod Rootes and Garry Finlay, capping off an impressive personal effort, all took two wickets each.

Colts Youth Development (YD) were reminded they are the junior team in the club on Saturday as Colts recorded a huge 171-run win in the derby at Bob Dowling 2.
Wayne Cole and Graeme Morton set up the win for Colts with a mammoth 179-run opening stand in just 21 overs before Morton was dismissed for 63.
Cole kept going and looked set for a century but fell short, caught by Alex Groth for 95.
The runs didn't stop there and Shane Groen made 70 while Nathan Daniels was 40 not out before Colts made the rare choice to declare at 4-304 in a 40 over match.
Garry Ashford and Sam Bass each made 32 for YD but it was nowhere near enough as they fell for just 133.
