Dubbo MP and newly elected leader of the NSW Nationals party, Troy Grant was on hand to flip some burgers, make his first Big Mac and collect donations.
Mr Grant said he loves coming to local events like McHappy Day, especially one with such a worthy cause.
“I’ve had associations with Ronald McDonald House for a long time,” he said.
“This is a brilliant charity and all the crew are doing a great job.”
McHappy Day attendees were entertained with dance performances by the Stepping Out Dance Factory, a face painting and temporary tattoo stall and a colouring-in competition.
They also had the opportunity to donate directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
Customers were encouraged to purchase a $1 Helping Hand or a Big Mac, $2 of which would go to RMHC.
Gary Barraclough owner of the Dubbo, Dubbo West and Wellington McDonalds said the 24th McHappy Day aims to raise $3 million for RMHC.
“It’s about raising awareness of Ronald McDonald House Charities,” he said.
“We talk about what they do to inform families and if they’re in the unfortunate situation that they need a hand, they know where to go.”
The fundraising target will provide more than 23,000 nights of accommodation in a Ronald McDonald house for families with seriously ill children.
