Hoping to strengthen the group, president Bob Chapman said Lions is always in the look-out for individuals from the community to approach them.
“Our club gives members an opportunity to advance worthy causes, serve with friends, and become leaders in the community,” Mr Chapman said.
“This club means a lot to our Lions, but it means so much more to the people we serve.
“We want to share the great things we’re doing in the community and let others know how they can help,” he said.
The Lions’ motto is “We Serve,” and the Lions Club of Dubbo lives by that.
But it has not been smooth sailings for the Lions.
Mr Chapman said low membership numbers have been affecting the Lions’ ability to serve and be involved within the Dubbo community.
“We had a function at a preschool recently and we were unable to provide enough volunteers to even run the barbecue,” he said.
Mr Chapman said he had been doubting his involvement in the club, but was reassured by his fellow Lions.
“We base our days on family, work and the Lions,” he said.
“Being involved in the community is a rewarding experience and I think everyone should be a part of that at some stage.”
The group meets every first and third Tuesday of the month at the West Dubbo Bowling Club at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
