Twenty-five teams of three competed with one person doing the 500-metre swim, the second doing an 18km bike ride, and a third member running 4km toward the finish line.
The 75 participants made up one of the largest turnouts ever at a Dubbo Triathlon Club event.
Race director Rob Duffy said it augured well for a great season and the weather was near perfect in warm spring conditions.
It was a great family event with many teams made up of parents and children.
The format for this charity day was a "no watch" event so each team nominated a finish time and the closest team to finish to their nominated time was the winner.
In a shock result two teams dead-heated, both being only 12 seconds off their nominated time.
Club secretary Susan Madden, and fellow members of Team Hurting - Peta Holcombe and Edwina Toohey tied with Mad Dogs' Nick Beattie, Luke McConochie and Heath Webb.
Many of the 75 competitors were new and everybody enjoyed the relaxed, fun atmosphere.
The charity day is in memory of former club member Michael Martin and raised approximately $750 for the NSW Cancer Council.
The next race is on Sunday, October 26 with registration starting at 7.15am at Ollie Robbins Oval at the corner of Bligh and Church Streets for a 7.45am participants briefing.
The is the first official race of the season and all competitors will be required to be club members to score points over the sprint distance of 500m swim, 18km bike and 4km run.
The short course will also operate with a 500m swim, 9km bike and 2km run.
Competitors can also register as a team.
Members race free while non-members or those new to triathlon can obtain a day pass for $25.
