Troy Grant speaks to the NSW parliament after the announcement that he is the new Deputy Premier for NSW and leader of the NSW National Party.
Read what Mr Grant had to say:
"In my inaugural speech I made I referred to myself as a son of regional NSW. That's the way I was raised and that's the way I grew up. Those communities made me and gave me the opportunities I've had at this point in my life.
I'm enormously grateful and enormously privileged to have been given those opportunities with the support of those communities and my family along the way.
To be elected by my team and to lead this great party is a tremendous honour and I feel extraordinarily humble at this point in time. I'm now leading the best party in NSW and Australia and I'm enormously proud of the achievements this party has made in nearly 100 years but of most recent times, the fact this party has been able to put regional NSW back at the heart of government.
I've been described a lot of ways in recent press. I've always lived my life on three principles: Honesty, integrity and hard work.
- Deputy Premier and Member for Dubbo Troy Grant.
We know there is a lot more to do and we will do it together. I will work my backside off supporting my team-mates, supporting communities we all represent and I will be out there talking to those communities to ensure policies we have adopted in our short time on government have resonated and are working for them and what more needs to be done.
I've been described a lot of ways in recent press. I've always lived my life on three principles: Honesty, integrity and hard work.
Those three principles are the ones I'll be taking into this very privileged role of leading the NSW Nationals.
We have a lot of work to do. I'll be meeting with the Premier shortly with my leadership team to get down to business to continue the great work this government is doing in partnership with regional communities and mutual respect with our coalition partners, the NSW Liberals.
Thank you for being here today."
