ALTHOUGH she has ridden more than 60 winners and has twice won the Western Racing Association apprentices premiership, Catherine Markwort had never won a race at her home track of Forbes.

That changed on Saturday though when she drove the Barry Molloy-trained Set For Gold to victory in the Walker's Ag-N-Vet/Rawson Homes Benchmark 50 Handicap (1600m).
Markwort is an extremely well-liked jockey and her friends and supporters, among the biggest crowd seen at Forbes for many years, cheered her all the way down the straight.
Stepping up to 1600m after racing over shorter trips, Set For Gold ($6.00) raced in third position before dashing clear for a strong win over Rendering ($2.80, Joe Saiki) and Another Miss Pick ($26.00, Michael Hackett).
Margaret and Neil Johnson, from Geurie, bred and owned Boy Ohboy, winner of the Forbes Machinery Centre/Forbes Sport and Rec Club Maiden Handicap (1200m).
Their young stallion Eyeful also sired Icanacandy, a recent winner at Wellington.
Sent around the field early by Jake Pracey-Holmes, Boy Ohboy ($4.60 fav) then led the rest of the trip as it defeated Sagacious Rose ($21.00, Paul Payne) and Nice And Alert ($5.00, Greg Ryan).
Boy Ohboy is trained at Gulgong by Brett Thompson.
Bathurst-based apprentice Rachel Hunt rode the second winner of her career when Tiger's Story, trained by her boss Paul Theobald, was a convincing winner of the Wholesale Trucks-Uniflex Maiden Plate (1400m).
From midfield, Tiger's Story ($4.20) took control in the home straight to beat Wollartant ($8.00, Anthony Cavallo) and Il Buco ($3.80 fav, Mathew Cahill).
Another young rider who tasted success at Forbes on Saturday was Claire Gee, who combined with the trainer father Mark Gee to win the Automation Group-BWR?Accountants Benchmark 50 Handicap (1100m) with Outrageous Deal.
Leading most of the way, Outrageous Deal ($9.00) held on to beat Royal Society ($9.00, Rachel Hunt) and Future Destiny ($9.00, Michael Hackett).
Racing in the central west this week will be at Narromine (TAB) on Saturday, with the feature event being the Dandy Cup.
