The self-devised production is on for one night only on Friday, October 24 as part of the Macquarie Credit Union Dream 2014 DREAM Festival.
The Dubbo Christian School graduate said she was more than just a little bit excited for her return to the region.
"I love bringing my work home," Ms Simons said.
Described by Ms Simons as a comedy cabaret, Reception: The Musical is expected to be very well received by the audience, having just recently been awarded the Best Cabaret performance in the 2014 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
A celebration of all things administration, Ms Simons will be keeping the audience on their toes as she undertakes not one, but 17 different characters in the performance.
"When I first moved to Melbourne, I used to work as a receptionist at a music academy," she said.
"After working there, I realised just how amusing the industry is."
The story focuses on the life of a receptionist who joins the manic world of customer service, stationery orders and a swivel chair.
As the only performer on stage, alongside accompanist Peter de Jager, Ms Simons said the main message she wanted to get across to the audience was "attitude is everything".
Taking slightly more than three years to write with Mr de Jager, Ms Simons said they hoped people would join them in seeing the funny side of life with musical numbers such as Do You Have Sticky Tape and They Ring My Bell.
"2014 is the year of the secretary funnily enough and I want people to be able to celebrate that with us," she said.
"The administration industry deserves recognition and everyone needs to have a good laugh."
Along with Essential Energy being the naming rights sponsor for Reception: The Musical, Ms Simons said they had sponsorship from No. 95 Accommodation in Dubbo for a member of the team.
The show kicks of at 7pm at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre on Friday, October 24. Tickets can be purchased at www.drtcc.com.au. Full-price tickets are $29, and $26 for concessional tickets.
