The $20,000 final, run over 2100m, brought together some impressive pacers but it was the David Hewitt-trained four-year-old that led from start to finish to record one of the most dominant wins in the race's history.
After racing 24 times on the other side of the Tasman with limited success Holm Three made her Australian debut at Eugowra last Sunday in a heat of the prestigious series, which she won in a mile rate of 2:01.0.
But a favourable barrier draw and a positive drive from Hewitt helped her run almost three seconds quicker in the final, giving her rivals no hope of running her down.
Most expect the Mach Three (Can) x Holmezy (NZ) mare to lead from gate three and hand up to Bathurst-trained Kapow Shannon.
But after finding the lead early there was little pressure applied to Holm Three ($3.70) and Hewitt was happy to be the one they all had to run down.
Kapow Shannon (1$10.30, Michael Munro) sat in the death seat while the two runners considered to be Holm Three's main dangers, Luksam ($4.90, Brad Hewitt) and Karloo Ten Seventy ($3.00 fav, Robbie Morris), settled back in the field from second-row draws.
After recording a lead time of 36.2s, Holm Three got a relatively cheap first split of 30.7s before slowly winding up the tempo from the 1200m mark.
Her second and third quarters of the last mile were run in 29.4s and 29.5s respectively but by the time the field reached the 400m mark she had exploded away from her rivals.
Luksam ran on well from the back of the pack but made no impression on the leader, who sizzled home in 28.2s to win by 22-and-a-quarter metres in a mile rate of 1:58.1.
By finishing second Luksam gave the Hewitt family a quinella while Go Lassie Go ($81.70 Murray Sullivan) did a good job to finish third at just her third start in a race.
Earlier in the day, $1.50 fav Marquez won the Mick Rawsthorne Memorial (2100m) on protest while in the race following the Canola Cup, the Ashlee Siejka-trained Atom Of Courage was successful in the Pepper Tree Farm Don Tildsley Memorial (1700m).
