The official Dubbo retune took place between 9am and 3.30pm Wednesday, but additional testing after the retune meant viewers may have experienced interruptions to ABC, SBS, Prime, WIN and Southern Cross throughout the day.
As part of a national retune program all free-to-air channels are changing frequencies to clear the broadcasting spectrum for new services such as mobile broadband.
The retune has been fraught with complaints from residents in the area with a number of people complaining the switch to digital television had left them with poor or no reception for months.
Dick Smith Dubbo Store Manager Henry Parsons said he had numerous people coming into the store from Dubbo and the surrounding areas in need of assistance in the days surrounding the retune.
Mr Parsons said it was mostly elderly people who didn't understand how to retune their televisions, but said in some cases the change of frequencies meant residents were required to get a new antenna.
For those having difficulties, Mr Parsons suggested they read the user manual of their TV and look over the settings.
If people living in apartments are still experiencing difficulties it can be because they are using a shared antenna system.
It is recommended they contact their property manager or body corporate to address the issue.
The switch to digital channels was scheduled to avoid weekends and evenings, but with the Dubbo retune occurring during the school holidays, one Facebook commenter said she was thankful for DVDs to keep her children amused.
