Who is the new most eligible bachelor now George Clooney has been snapped up? It's been a tough year for the singles community as many good and good-looking comrades have been diagnosed with "Settling Down Syndrome". First Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie disappeared down the holy matrimony hole, then Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes retired to parenthood (reportedly) and now we mourn the loss of two of the most accomplished and attractive beacons of autonomy, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin. Check out who's in the running here.

Australian fans of The Simpsons might need to enter lockdown until at least early next year if they don't want to find out which character was killed off at the start of the show's 26th season. Speculation has been rife about which character would meet their maker in the dramatic plot twist but, now all has been revealed, reaction on social media has mostly been one of disappointment. A Dubbo-based lawyer has sought to tackle public perceptions that courts in the region are “soft on crime”.
Stephen Lawrence said yesterday it was “simply not true” that courts in the region were lenient.
Speaking as an Orana Regional Law Society spokesman and principal legal officer of the Aboriginal Legal Service NSW/ACT in the western region, Mr Lawrence cited a number of factors that contributed to the perception of leniency.
He said sometimes it was because of incomplete reporting of criminal cases, sometimes it was because of ignorance of the process and at other times it was politicians.
“The public need to be made aware that the courts are expected to impose sentences in accordance with the laws determined by the Parliament and they must be allowed to do this independently of political interference.”
- Dubbo-based lawyer Stephen Lawrence
