The Greater staff are participating in STEPtember, hoping to raise $500 to assist people with cerebral palsy.
Manager Cathy Charnley said it's a cause she feels strongly about.
"About a month after we decided to do it again this year my niece was diagnosed with cerebral palsy so we have extra incentive," she said.
This is the second time the team have taken part in STEPtemberm but Ms Charnley said she is struggling to reach her quota of daily steps.
To reach 10,000 steps, Ms Charnley said she walks the dogs in the morning, walks to work, walks home for lunch, walks back to work and then walks home in the afternoon- the equivalent of an hour and a half of exercise.
"You just don't realise how inactive you are," Ms Charnley said.
Participants are sponsored for participating in the event and the money raised is donated to the Cerebal Palsy Alliance.
Ms Charnley said the Alliance doesn't just help people in Sydney and metropolitan areas, but assists those such as her sister in regional areas as well.
STEPtember runs for 28 days from the 3rd of September to the 30th.
Donations can be made to the Doin' It For Sophie team by going to www.steptember.org.au and searching the team name.
