To do their bit for people with cancer by taking part in Relay for Life.
One in two men will be diagnosed with cancer before they are 85 and one in three women, meaning that everyone will be touched in some way by cancer.
For Mandy O'Sullivan, she was affected when her otherwise healthy mother was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 58.
Pam O'Neill's battle lasted 18 months before she passed away last November.
It motivated Mandy and her family to take part in Relay for Life under the name Pam's Powerwalkers.
"Mum was a very fit and healthy 58. She was actually training for a half-marathon when she was diagnosed.
"She passed away just after her 60th birthday and it is still very raw," Mandy said.
"She had six children. Three of us are still in town and three away so we thought Relay for Life was a good opportunity to get together and do our bit.
"Mum was a very keen walker so that is how we came up with the name."
Incredibly, the team has already raised $4000 in donations and they are hoping to get a little bit more during the weekend.
"We had a morning tea at my house in August and 60 people came to that. We had activities and raffles. We raised a couple of thousand from that," Mandy said.
"Our goal was $1000, then $2000 and it has kept climbing. We will have a lolly stall at Relay for Life so that might do OK."
Relay for Life gets under way at 2pm this afternoon with registration from midday.
