The Far West Academy of Sport is looking for all eligible netballers to trial for a place in the 2014-15 FWAS Netball Program.
The Academy will be once again holding trials in two locations to minimise travel for interested players.
Trials will be held at Broken Hill and Warren on Sunday October 19. The trials are open to all players in the Far West region who turning 13 to 16 years in 2015.
For the first time the Academy will introduce an East and West concept in which the Academy will select an East Squad from the trialling athletes at Warren and a West Squad from the Broken Hill trials with about 40 players in total being offered a scholarship.
Selected players will receive regular high-level coaching aimed at preparing athletes for regional and representative honours.
The program is supported by Netball NSW and focuses on further developing the athlete's core skills as well as enabling them to train and play at a higher intensity.
Players will also have the opportunity to participate in regional and state tournaments like the NIB Games at Maitland in which players can test their skills against some of the best up-and-coming players from across the state.
"I am really excited about the introduction of the East and West concept to the netball program this year" FWAS Programs and Development Officer, Jarrad Linton Harland, said.
"This new addition will allow us to reduce travel distances for some of our athletes by having training sessions in both Warren and Broken Hill regularly throughout the 2014-15 program as well as allowing us to schedule more training sessions and increase the contact time between the coaches and athletes to further assist the athletes reach their full potential.
"It's important that athletes understand that they should attend the closest trial to them, as that is the squad they will be considered for when selections are made.
"The trials are open to all interested players in the region, and we encourage all netballers in the Far West region to attend.
"The program is part of Netball NSW's development pathway and is a great opportunity for those looking to develop their skills and get noticed by Netball NSW.
"Athletes in the program have achieved great success in the past with members being selected in the NSW and Australian Indigenous Schoolgirls teams."
