Dubbo West Preschool Director Cathryn Albert said the formation of the new room was expected to finish in October or November.
"Once the room is finished, developing the playground will begin," Ms Albert said.
Earlier this year the school received a grant for $273,000 to help build the new room in order to reduce the preschool's waiting list.
The grant did not cover the cost of building a playground for the new room so the team at Dubbo West Preschool decided to hold a gala dinner in July this year.
Overall $15,000 was raised on the night.
Dubbo City Council donated $1000 and Dubbo Rotary also donated $1000.
Along with the new room and playground, fences were erected to accommodate the growing preschool.
The developments of the new room will see 20 more children attending Dubbo West Preschool.
"We have a big waiting list," Ms Albert said.
"We usually get an influx in December and January of parents wanting to register their kids at the preschool.
"Before we could not offer them that. But with the new room now we can."
Ms Albert said the new room had allowed for three days to be filled next year.
"Currently there are 160 kids who come to the Dubbo West Preschool each week," Ms Albert said.
"With the new room, 220 children will now be able to come,"
