The suspected death of the 31-year-old wife and mother at Walgett in 1982 has come before Coroner Mary Jerram this week.
Noeleen Knight, who met Ms Bowie at work in the 1970s and then became her close friend, was first to give evidence for the day, doing so via audio-visual link.
Her former husband Brian Knight travelled to Dubbo for the inquest and was next to be sworn in.
Edward ‘Eddie’ Ovens and partner Ruth Ovens lived in a caravan at the rear of the Bowies’ Euroka Street home at the time of Ms Bowie’s disappearance.
Both gave evidence in person at the inquest today before lunch.
