This week marks the second annual National Superhero Week for Muscular Dystrophy.
Students from the public school donated a gold coin to dress up which will be donated to the National Muscular Dystrophy Research Centre (NMDRC).
Principal Neva Pengilly said $404 was raised for the centre with most of the children dressing up in support of the cause.
She said the students dressed up as both well known superheroes and heroes they made up themselves.
A boy at Dubbo South Public has muscular dystrophy and Ms Pengilly said the day made everyone realise those with the disorder have to work a little harder to achieve everyday tasks.
Muscular Dystrophy is a progressive muscle-wasting disorder that currently affects one in 1,000 people globally.
More than 20,000 people from across the state are taking part in events this week to raise money for the NMDRC.
