The paintings of the Dubbo main street in 1890 and the old Macquarie Inn during 1848.
Mr Newell expects the paintings will fetch $2,000 to $3,000 each, half of which will go directly to CSU.
He was approached by Terry Green managing director of Sainsbury Automotive to paint a piece for the auction.
Mr Green was a close friend of Tony McGrane and wanted to do something special on the 10th anniversary of his passing.
Mr Newell was more than happy to oblige: "I enjoy painting for causes I'm interested in."
The pieces will sit in the Sainsbury Honda showroom until the night of the dinner.
"It's great to have a piece of Dubbo history in our showroom- something a bit different," Mr Green said.
Geoff Wise chair of the Local Organising Committee said the group is excited to have such amazing artwork at the auction.
"The Local Organising Committee believe it is invaluable to have the opportunity to have painting of early hotels of Dubbo up (for auction) to raise funds for students of the Orana region," he said.
"It links the early history with the future of the Orana region."
All proceeds from the dinner, held on September 15, will help to fund the Tony McGrane Foundation Scholarship.
The scholarship is used to support Orana region students in meeting study costs.
The majority of tickets to the dinner have been sold, so those interested in bidding for the paintings are urged to contact Christine Stewart of CSU on 0417 299 782.
