8.49: Making entertainment news this morning:
The celebrity nude photo scandal is still making headlines around the world.
In other entertainment news
Victoria's Secret Angel Shanina Shaik was runner up in the TV series Make Me A Supermodel in 2008 and has since been on catwalks for the likes of Chanel. The 23-year-old – now the face of Just Jeans – opened up to Kate Waterhouse about being bullied as a teenager and how modelling made her stronger.
The oft-quoted W.C. Fields line that you should ''never work with children or animals'' obviously doesn't deter Rachel Griffiths. In a patch of bushland near Donvale, the Australian actress is blocking a scene on the ABC3 children's drama Nowhere Boys and the first-time television director has half a dozen attentive adolescents to arrange while a two-dozen strong crew follows her lead. Any animals will have to wait their turn.
8.41: The students at Dubbo College Delroy Campus put together a time capsule yesterday.
Some Dubbo students will provide clues about today's popular culture and laws of the land for the generation at school in 25 years' time.
A class from Dubbo College Delroy Campus was yesterday gathering items to fill a time capsule.
The activity was part of their participation in the Rotary Club of Dubbo West's latest time capsule project.
The club buried time capsules from families, groups and schools in 1989.
On October 4, 25 years later, it will raise the time tank and then put down a new offering for the future - to be opened in 2039.

8.11: A Sushi Train is opening in Dubbo today.
Dubbo’s first sushi train restaurant is set to open in the CBD today in premises that have undergone substantial renovation.
A former office has been refitted for the eatery featuring the popular element of Japanese food culture that dots metropolitan landscapes.
Its opening comes after a $100,000 development application for the food and drink premises was approved by Dubbo City Council on August 8.
The tenant had secured a lot of space that had been vacant for some time - since it ceased to be the office of the state member, he said.
8.04: A feel good story came out of the Orana LAC yesterday. Kudos to this good Samaritan.
7.58: Are you travelling anywhere this year? Here's some interesting ways you could offend people in other countries.
7.48: Here's the Daily Liberal front page this morning:
A young Dubbo worker has had eight tyres slit beyond repair, a crime occurring in “unusually high” numbers across a section of the city.
Nicholas Steepe said the attacks on his car were increasing in frequency and last week it was hit on three separate nights.
The 20-year-old working hard to make his way in the world said he was at a loss about what he could do to stop the deliberate punctures that had already cost him about $700.
Yesterday Dubbo police said they had received 20 reports of damage to tyres in August alone, that it was occurring in South Dubbo and that the increase was “concerning”.
“I WAKE UP EVERY MORNING WONDERING IF I HAVE TO FORK OUT $90 AND BE LATE TO WORK."
- Nicholas Steepe

7.29: Making regional and national news this morning:
ORANGE: The Roads and Maritime Services will not budge on a proposed speed limit increase for the Northern Distributor Road (NDR), citing 26 crashes and three fatalities as to why the status quo should remain. Orange City Council requested the RMS review the limit with a view it could be increased to up to 100km/h from 80km/h in some sections. Council’s traffic committee chairperson Russell Turner said he was disappointed the RMS had decided not to increase the limit but vowed the fight was not over.
ORANGE: A troubled Orange teenager who has come under the notice of the court for numerous malicious damage issues related to her poor behaviour was given a final warning to behave in Orange Local Court on Thursday by magistrate Bruce Williams. Mr Williams gave the 15-year-old ward of the state one month to get her act together and turn up for counselling sessions, to stop destroying the property of the agency that is caring for her, and to attend school.
ORANGE: Community housing organisation Housing Plus will roll out a range of radical reforms in the Orange, Cabonne and Blayney shires designed to make it quicker and easier for homeless people to access help. Housing Plus chief executive officer Karen Andrew said the changes would include the introduction of a one-stop-shop at its office at 113 Byng Street to help adults and families who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, in Orange and the surrounding area.
NATIONAL: An Australian father of twins born to a surrogate mother in Thailand has reportedly been charged with allegedly sexually abusing them, in the latest scandal to hit the controversial industry. The Sydney man is facing charges in New South Wales of indecent dealings of a sexual nature while the two children were under 10 years old, the ABC reported.
NATIONAL: Russia says it will consider launching a trade retaliation after Australia slapped fresh sanctions on the Kremlin for its latest incursions into eastern Ukraine. Prime Minister Tony Abbott said on Monday afternoon that Australia would follow the European Union and the United States in imposing another round of sanctions on Russia in the wake of claims that at least 1000 Russian troops as well as tanks and other military hardware have flowed across the border in recent weeks.
NATIONAL: Above-average temperatures and rain deficits mean Australia's main population centres can expect a more active bushfire season this summer than usual. A region taking in most of the Great Divide, stretching from north of Brisbane down to Sydney and on to Melbourne's west, faces heightened fire risks, according to the seasonal bushfire outlook compiled by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre. A similar arc runs from south-western WA to Adelaide.
7.13: Making local news this morning:
A program aimed to encourage people to live in regional NSW will get a shake-up. The NSW government will abolish the Regional Relocation Homebuyers Grant from September 30. Additional funding would be delivered to continue its $10,000 Skilled Regional Relocation Incentive, which was tied to secure full-time employment over two years.
CENTRAL WEST: White Ribbon Ultramarathon runner Kirrily Dear has put the call out for runners to join on her on legs of her 860-kilometre run. Ms Dear is running across rural NSW to raise funds and to get people thinking about what they can do to end violence against women. The run begins at Walgett on November 14 and finishes on White Ribbon Day on November 25, at Forbes. It travels through Dubbo on November 22 and 23 and Dubbo runners have the opportunity to join Kirrily on the stints between Mendooran and Dubbo and Dubbo and Yeoval.
BREWARRINA Mayor Matthew Slack-Smith is not confident Premier Mike Baird's visit to drought-stricken areas in NSW last week will lead to more assistance for struggling farmers. Mr Baird and Agriculture Minister Katrina Hodgkinson visited Weilmoringle, near Brewarrina, where they toured local Ed Vassy's farm to see the impact of the drought first-hand. The mayors from Brewarrina, Bourke and Coonamble, as well as NSW Farmers President Fiona Simson, all had a chance to share their concerns with the politicians.

NSW: If you have received a call from a government agency recently offering you a refund from the carbon tax repeal the chances are you have been the target of a scam. Scammers are impersonating government agencies, falsely claiming consumers are owed thousands of dollars upfront from the repeal of the carbon tax.
A DUBBO man has proved it is possible to have a highly successful and rewarding career without leaving his home town. Joel Bones has been appointed associate principal at Crowe Horwath after 12 years of working his way up the ranks. Joel joined Crowe Horwath as a cadetship out of school in 2002. While working he completed a degree in accountancy and an advanced diploma of financial planning.
WESTERN NSW: There are almost 6000 children in Western NSW who have been identified as being at risk of significant harm but just one third of those have had face-to-face interviews with child protection employees. The disturbing details came to light in the latest round of quarterly figures from the Department of Family and Community Services up to June 2014. In total there are 5716 children in Western NSW, which includes the entire Orana region, listed in reports but just 1891 of them were assessed in person by FACS caseworkers.
