The Tigers, spurred by a huge home crowd at Larkin Oval, dominated the first half but couldn't capitalise on a number of chances and a try right on half-time to Parkes' Jake Dooley to lock things up at 10-all proved to be a pivotal moment in the match.
Nyngan got the first try after the break but it was all Parkes from there as they maintained their composure to cross the line three more times and run out 26-14 winners.
"We're not getting too carried away, we were terrible in the first half," Parkes captain-coach Pat Rosser said after the win.
"Things became a bit easier in the second half, we held the ball, created a bit of pressure with some repeat sets and we've got some points in us when we get it right."
Tigers mentor Col Wright cut a dejected figure after the match as he fell at the first week of the finals against the Spacemen for the second year in a row but he admitted Parkes five-eighth Dennis Moran, who scored twice and set up a further two tries, was the main difference.
"We had our chances, we had them but didn't capitalise and they got around us," he said.
"They've got two or three really good players, Moran, he just steered them around at the end and did the right things, he's a class player."
The veteran five-eighth opened the scoring when he put Parkes in front after just five minutes but the Tigers took control of the match from there and deservedly drew level when hooker Derek Knight powered over from dummy-half.
The Tigers had their chances to extend their lead but Jacob Neill lost the ball as he crossed the line before winger Waisale Tora went over but it was called back for a forward pass.
A beautiful cut out ball from Neill put Craig Ticehurst over shortly after as the Tigers finally made the weight of possession count but just before the break Dooley finished some scrappy lead up by sneaking through a gap to level the scores.
"That changed the momentum of the game there," Rosser said of the centre's four-pointer.
"We were down and out a bit but we got back equal so we got some of that momentum."
While the Tigers pulled in front when Ticehurst produced an impressive run from 20 out to grab his second, Parkes soon began to gain the upper hand.
Moran floated across field on halfway and a perfect short ball put Jordan Pope through to score before a slick move from right to left resulted in Brandon Paige scoring.
Todd Barrow had no trouble with his second sideline conversion of the day, effectively silencing the home crowd with the score at 22-16.
The classy number six put the icing on the cake five minutes from time as he put in a grubber and chased it through unopposed to grab his second.
"He's a year older but that means he's also a year more experienced and we know when it's a 50-50 moment and the ball is in his hands we feel pretty confident that we can do something," Rosser said, praising Moran.
"He knows what to do in those situations and that's why he's our little general."
