The Dubbo team shocked the netball community on August 3 when they ended an Orange wining streak which spanned a number of years. And on the eve of the finals Dubbo captain Michelle Williams and her side were confident of repeating that result.
"We're very confident we can not only beat them once but twice," Williams said.
"We've got them first up in the semi-final and we want to beat them there and then repeat that in the grand final.
"That would mean the world to us."
Much of Dubbo's success this year has been due to an improving local competition.
The A-grade division of the Rawson Homes Premiership has produced some outstanding matches in 2014 and Williams said the whole local association was keen to see it continue going from strength to strength.
"We're trying to build it, a strong competition here will strengthen us at State Championships and at State League," she said.
"A couple of years ago we only had one or two strong teams here so to have five is great and we want seven or eight."
That increased competition has meant more depth for the Dubbo State League team and Williams, a versatile midcourt player most comfortable at centre, is confident they can use to that advantage tomorrow.
"We've got good depth so there's a number of combinations we can use, we've got a fair idea of who will start the match but there's plenty of options depending on the situation," she said, before adding what was needed to win the title.
"I think we just have to play our game, we've got to do the simple things right. Last time we made a few errors and that's all that made the difference, we got done for a lot of stepping which was strange for us.
"They (Orange) complained we were physical but we played them twice last time and in the second game they were very physical and bashed us around a bit but we've just got to play our own game, convert our centre passes and capitalise on any turnovers."
The claims from both sides relating to each others physical style is sure to add a bit of fire to the finals series, which begins at Orange's Anzac Park tomorrow at 9am.
