The Demons travel to Cowra today in the first week of the CWAFL finals and take on a Blues side which has comfortably beaten them in their prior meetings during 2014.
Coach Mick Daly and the Dubbo side scraped into the finals after defeating Young in the second-last round of the regular year and take on a Blues side determined to push on and compete with Orange and Bathurst.
In their three meetings this year the Blues have been big winners each time, victorious by a combined total of 246 points.
The Blues will therefore start the match as favourites but Daly has been increasingly confident in recent weeks and knows if his best side is on the park and performs on the day then they are capable of mixing it with their more fancied opponents.
Their first meeting in early May saw the Blues run out 82-point winners before it was a 78-point margin when they played in June.
The most recent clash between the two sides was late July and an understrength Demons were no match for Cowra's experience, the Blues winning 31.16 (202) to Dubbo's 2.4 (16).
Daly will be hoping for his key men to return to the park but he will again be without big ruckman Tom Skinner, who underwent surgery on his injured knee earlier this week.
A large part of Dubbo's hopes will lie with the availability of key frontman Terry Lyons, who kicked nine goals in the Demons' win over Young.
He adds a presence up front which the Dubbo side often lack while the likes of Sam Whalan, Kim Woodman and Sean Champion will also be vital to the Demons' chances.
Cowra will rely on their star duo Frank Bright and Corey Kennedy, with Bright in particular a massive part of the Blues gameplan.
The veteran played his 350th game for the Cowra club last time the two sides met and kicked 10 majors in the victory.
The two sides will also meet in the reserve grade semi with Cowra heavy favourites in that match as well.
The Demons picked up four wins during the regular season in reserves but have often struggled with player numbers, something the club will hoping isn't a concern during the finals.
First bounce in the reserve grade match is at 12.30pm while the main match starts at 2.30pm.
