Built on the grounds of Orana Heights Public School, the new building will suit the needs of the centre into the future.
The flooring is expected to go down in the next few days and the finishing touches applied but one thing remains to be finished.
At the moment there is no proper access to the building. Wooden boxes are currently being used but it is hoped a ramp will soon take the spot.
"We have come so far but this is the last thing we have to do," centre co-ordinator Cathy Buckley said.
"We did have some lined up to build the ramp but that fell through. We received a grant of $800 from council for the ramp and that was great but it's just not enough to complete the whole project.
"What we would really like is if someone would be able to give us a discounted rate and someone who might be able to build it. We already have a plan."
The school has allowed the childcare centre to use their auditorium as a temporary facility but there is a lot of excitement from staff, children and parents about the dedicated building.
"This has been 10 years coming but the last 12 months has been very exciting to see it all come together," voluntary project manager Kellyann Johnson said.
"There have been setbacks but people are offering their time and assistance to help us. It shows the community spirit is still alive and well in Dubbo."
The centre has fundraised but also been helped out by the generosity of local businesses and tradespeople and they are extremely grateful for the help.
"The committee has been sensational and the parents, the mothers have been happy to lend a hand. Brett Hall, one of our parents, has helped tirelessly," Ms Johnson said.
"Steve and Donna O'Brien from Choices Flooring donated the flooring and laying, the TAFE helped with the floorboards and the skirting boards, Astleys Plumbing gave us a discount on the plaster and Lindsay Allison fitted it. Allan Herbert did all of the electrical work for free."
